Sam Sculthorp

Sam (she/her) has been teaching yoga since 2006 in the UK, Australia and New Zealand.

Sam first attended Iyengar classes in London, back in 1999, and proceeded to study other disciplines and certified RYT/ RYS 500 hour in 2003 at Yoga Arts, Byron Bay. From 2004 Sam solely concentrated on studying and then later teaching Shadow Yoga, a school of traditional Hatha Yoga, founded by Sundernāth (Shandor Remete).

Sam completed a Foundation Course with John Evans and Karen Watson of Islington Yoga, UK, in 2004, where Sam subsequently taught for many years under the guidance of Karen Watson. Since 2005 Sam has been attending courses with Sundernāth and Emma Balnaves, the founder and director of Shadow Yoga respectively. Sam completed a 3 year teacher training with Sundernāth and Emma, 2009 - 2012, and continues to study with them both on courses and retreats around the world.

In addition, Sam has been learning Sanskrit for several years, under the instruction of Dr Maddalena Italia, to better understand the language of the traditional yoga texts and the roots of yoga.

Sam teaches adults one to one and in group classes as well as pre and post-natal sessions.
